The Story of OldTech Blog
The idea of OldTech blog was born sometime in the second half of the 2010s when friends and I discussed creating a hobby blog, vlog, or somewhere we could share our thoughts with others. But as time passed, we kept talking about it and never produced anything tangible. We have a couple of excuses: life has really scattered the group of my friends I just mentioned. In other countries, other jobs… the usual. In addition, of course, we work, we spend time with our families, and among these circumstances, it’s not so easy to spend several hours of extra work per week to build a blog like this. So OldTech was only a dream for a long time, for me, for us. Of course, there were moments when we were close to starting it together, and the first wave of Covid shot the whole project close to the starting line.
Then, over time, the moment came when I decided to do it even if I had to do it alone. However, I hope my friends will also dedicate themselves to writing and bring us a good story, test, or material. The door is open to them.
Where did the blog name come from?
When we decided to create a website, the task was to find a name for it. The solution was given by life itself. Since around this time, we were all closer to forty than thirty; we often found ourselves constantly saying: „I’m too old for this”, when a new trend or a popular technology came alive among the younger generation. From here, the name OldTech was just one step away, expressing that we are no longer in our teenage years but still interested in technology.
OldTech is based on the term „old tech” from the BattleTech books and games.
What will be on the blog?
The POV car videos will be most interesting for English visitors because the articles will be available only in the Hungarian language.
Will the page be updated regularly?
Of course, I know the saying „Content is king”, but I can feel that this project is a gigantic task for one man (along with work and family). So, unfortunately, I may not be able to put as much work and energy into it as I want to. Therefore, I apologize in advance to everyone. Maybe, it would be better if I didn’t start the blog. At the same time, as the saying goes, „you will only regret what you never did in life”. All I can promise is I will try my best to entertain you.
